Dr. Stockmann is a doctor of a little town. The town has invested a large amount of money towards the development of a new tourism attraction for the town. Their local springs are known for their medicinal value. As the town gears up for another important season, Stockmann discovers that waste products from the town's tannery are contaminating the waters. Stockman discovered it due to rising illnesses amongst the tourists during the last season. He expects his discovery to be his greatest achievement, and promptly sends a detailed report to the Mayor. He proposes repositioning the springs to resolve the problem but he is unaware how much the changes would cost. Stockmann discovers quickly the divide between science and politics. He is committed to exposing the springs but at what cost?
